There are glamorous milestones in running a business.
And then there are the things that have been sitting on your mental to-do list for approximately seven years.
This week, I finally got to check off two of those.
A sign that actually fits Le Prix today
When I opened my first Le Prix storefront in 2019, I had an A-frame sign outside the shop. Even after that chapter of the business ended, part of that old sign kept following Le Prix along for the ride.
I kept using it because, well… it worked.
But Le Prix has changed a lot since 2019.
Today, we're an online shop and Waterloo home boutique filled with curated pre-loved fashion and sustainable goods. So it was time for the sign outside to actually tell that story.
Unboxing the new one felt surprisingly meaningful. It's just a sign, but it's also a little marker of where this business is now — and how much it's evolved.

And another long-overdue arrival…
Our Save the Trees, No Junk Mail Please mailbox magnet has become one of those wonderfully simple Le Prix bestsellers.
There was just one problem: not every mailbox is magnetic.
So I finally created a water-resistant sticker version, too.
It's a tiny product with a very Le Prix philosophy behind it: sustainability doesn't always have to mean completely overhauling your life. Sometimes it's simply finding one unnecessary source of waste and saying, “No thanks.”
The little things count, too
I have a Master's in Environmental Studies, and sustainability has been woven into Le Prix from the beginning. I'm also proud that Le Prix is a female- and disabled-owned Canadian business.
One thing I've learned through both my education and years of running this business is that environmental action doesn't only happen through huge, perfect gestures.
It can be buying something pre-loved instead of new. Wearing something you already own another 30 times. Air drying your laundry. Or putting a tiny sticker on your mailbox because you really don't need another stack of flyers.
And sometimes running a sustainable small business looks like continuing to use an old sign for seven years before finally admitting it's probably time for a new one.
So here's to the little upgrades, the long-overdue ideas and making progress when we can.
Welcome to this version of Le Prix. 🌿
