The Colours That Stayed With Me: A New Between-Seasons Drop

The Colours That Stayed With Me: A New Between-Seasons Drop

I came home from Spain with a suitcase full of laundry—and a mind full of colour.

The warm terracotta tones. The reds that appeared everywhere from clothing to flowers and tiled streets. The creamy neutrals, sun-faded blues and little touches of gold. Even after arriving home, those colours stayed with me.

They changed the way I looked at the pre-loved pieces waiting here at Le Prix.

To be clear, these clothes weren’t sourced in Spain. The inspiration was. Travel gave me fresh eyes for colour, pattern and the simple pleasure of getting dressed.

From Spanish warmth to Waterloo’s in-between weather

Coming home also meant returning to that very particular time of year in Waterloo: cool mornings, warm afternoons and evenings that suddenly call for another layer.

It’s not quite summer, but it doesn’t fully feel like autumn either.

That became the other half of this collection’s story. I wanted pieces that could carry some of that Spanish warmth and colour into the transition season we experience here—without requiring an entirely different wardrobe every time the temperature changes.

Red, terracotta and a little bit of joy

Red appears throughout this drop in several different moods.

There’s a bright red dress that creates an instant outfit. A red off-the-shoulder top that makes familiar denim feel special. A flowing red polka-dot silk skirt that can be worn with a delicate camisole and heels—or paired with a relaxed sweatshirt when the day calls for comfort.

A burgundy retro cardigan brings in those deeper, earthier tones while offering an easy layer for cooler mornings. Colourful silk blouses, soft cream pieces and touches of gold round everything out.

It isn’t about every piece matching perfectly. It’s about creating a wardrobe in which the pieces can have conversations with one another.

Clothes that can do more than one thing

Somewhere along the way, we were taught to divide our wardrobes into categories: dressy clothes, casual clothes, work clothes and weekend clothes.

But the pieces I value most don’t stay exclusively inside one category.

A silk camisole can feel polished with a flowing skirt, then completely relaxed with light-wash jeans. A cardigan can be buttoned and worn as a top or left open as a layer. A sweatshirt can make a silk skirt feel wearable on an ordinary Tuesday.

That kind of versatility matters for sustainability, too. When one piece can be styled across different occasions and seasons, it has more opportunities to be worn and loved.

A more joyful way to welcome the next season

After spending time in Europe, I didn’t want to come home and put all that colour away. I wanted to carry the feeling forward: the confidence to wear something vibrant, mix casual and elegant pieces, and let getting dressed add a little joy to the day.

That’s the feeling behind this latest Le Prix drop.

Le Prix is a female- and disabled-owned sustainable Canadian business. As someone with a Master’s in Environmental Studies, I curate with longevity in mind—not only how a garment was made, but how many ways it can become part of someone’s real life.

The new pre-loved collection is now available online. From here, fresh one-of-a-kind pieces will drop every other Tuesday at 12 p.m. ET.

In-person shopping and styling appointments in Waterloo are also available again now that I am back. I’d love to help you find pieces that work with your life, your existing wardrobe and the season ahead.
