I'll never forget my first Official Toronto Pride experience in 2009 and so many after that. It had this anything-is-possible energy that you were drawn to. I explored the parade, the street festival and enjoyed tearing up the dance floor at night and watching some amazing drag shows.
I felt lucky to be invited to experiencing the energy for Toronto pride year after year. I've always wanted people to embrace themselves. Be authentically true to who you are. And then I realized pride is a celebration of that.
As the years went on, I continued to grow Le Prix organically and made sure everyone who enjoyed Le Prix felt good. For years I ran Le Prix out of my home by appointment, pop-up shops and in-home private shopping and styling experiences. Sometimes I would get private message inquiries asking if I've styled trans people, and if they could shop at Le Prix. They would express that they felt they could trust me with their identity exploration. This warmed my heart that I had fostered fully the concept of self-love at Le Prix and was a true ally through my actions.
For some people who were shy or feared "the world isn't ready for them yet" while shopping and exploring their style, Le Prix was a safe space for shopping without judgement. This customized experience has been enjoyed by many and caters to what people need to feel comfortable.
As Le Prix moved into the storefront in Downtown Kitchener and opened for walk-ins (but still available for appointments), we continued to be known as space for people to connect, without judgement. Any style you want to achieve, I am on board to help you get there, and feel so confident you do a happy dance or cute little bum wiggle.
I love that anyone who loves Le Prix's products felt comfortable to come shop in person, during walk-ins. Le Prix will always be a safe space for anyone to explore their own style and embrace their authentic self.
But no rush, we all bloom in different seasons. That's the great part about taking the reins of our own life and editing our own stories. Private shopping and in-home stylist sessions are a great option if you're feeling like you need some extra love, care, and gentleness with yourself.
Pride Goes Virtual!
Did you know Toronto Pride is going virtual this year? 👏🏳️🌈✨ It's amazing we live in a time where even though we are in a pandemic and physically distancing, we can still find community.
I love any occasion to get dressed up, have fun, express myself, and feel connected to others.
Sending all the loving vibes to the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Because love is love.
We'll be sharing LOTS of colour this month on our Instagram stories in celebration of the rainbow. 🏳️🌈
