The natural wood retains the scent of the soap. Keeping your craft soap dry in between washings will make it last longer.
They are not oiled - they are completely untreated so can be burnt or composted when their useful life is over. Because they are untreated, they do absorb some oil from the soap and need to be cleaned from time to time with a brush.
